  • 1/3 cup butter or 65 g, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla powder
  • 1 tin Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk or 397 g
  • 1½ cups semolina or 240 g
  • 1½ cups white self-raising flour or 210 g
  • ¾ cup corn flour or 90 g
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ cup ground almonds or 25 g
  • Lemon zest, one medium piece
  • 2 cups oil for deep frying
  • 2 cups sugar syrup or 500 g

How to prepare

  1. Combine butter, eggs, vanilla powder and NESTLÉ Sweetened Condensed Milk in a bowl. Beat until well combined.
  2. Add semolina, self raising flour, corn flour, baking powder, almond and lemon zest. Beat until smooth dough is formed. Cover with cling film and chill for 2½ hours.
  3. Form the dough into small balls and deep fry in 170°C hot oil until golden brown.
  4. Dip the balls into the syrup for 2-3 minutes then remove and place in a serving dish.
